The capacitive touch screens are divided into two types, surface capacitive (one touch) by now outdated by the projected capacitive touchscreen (multitouch), called PCAP. The construction technique can be different depending on the size, field of use and customer requests. For sizes up to 24" is normally used ITO (indium-tin oxide). The most common touch screens are constructed using two overlaid ITO films, one for the X axis and the other for the Y axis, for outdoor installations it is preferable to use ITO on glass. For both solutions, it is applied a glass (operator side) with aesthetic function and touch screen support. The thickness of the front glass can reach one centimeter.
Other construction techniques, normally for sizes greater than 24 ", are microwires & metal mesh.
